3 Ways Team Leaders Can Make Q4 the Best Quarter Yet

make Q4 the best quarter yet

We’ve officially entered the fourth quarter of 2021! While some businesses start to wind down around this time of year with holidays quickly approaching, others are operating at full speed ahead. If you’re anything like me, you’re ready to make Q4 the best quarter yet — reaching end-of-year goals, setting new records, and bringing in better results.

Instead of throwing Hail Mary passes to reach your goals by the end of this year, here are 3 strategic things you can (and should) start doing now.

Here are 3 ways leaders can make Q4 the best quarter yet.

Check In On Your Team

While it’s always important for leaders to ensure their teams feel supported and have what they need to succeed, it’s especially critical during the end of the year.

With stress to meet end-of-year deadlines, lack of motivation to work around the fall and winter holidays, and the uptick in Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), it’s likely that your staff will face pressures and hindrances unique to Q4.

In order for your team to succeed during this time, make sure you are scheduling regularly one-on-ones with them to check in on how they are doing and feeling, revisit their goals and the progress they have made so far, and ask how you can better support them. These practices will help your staff feel safe enough to verbalize their needs and speak up before they drop the ball.

Revisit Your Goals

If you set specific goals to reach by the end of the year, now is the time to track your progress and see what needs to happen in order to reach them.

Are you on track to reach your goals? Does your direction need to shift? Do these goals still reflect your most important objectives to hit before the end of the year?

Another great practice is to think back on the obstacles you have faced this year that you had to overcome in order to keep moving toward your goals and identify how you conquered them. How can you use that knowledge to avoid coming against similar challenges in this next quarter? Being proactive with the new skills and experience you have gained in Q1-Q3 is crucial if you want to make Q4 the best quarter yet.

Pursue Extraordinary Leadership

All extraordinary leaders are built by other extraordinary leaders. I believe that no single person is capable of unbiasedly analyzing their own behavior, setting strategic goals for themselves, and holding themselves accountable to achieving those goals. We are only human, after all.

In order to go from a “good” leader to an extraordinary leader, one who knows exactly how to help each member of his or her team buy into the vision and rise to every challenge, you must partner with a leadership expert.

You need a leadership coach who will be able to easily identify the red flags in your leadership style and which practices to implement in order to correct them, as well as call out your natural strengths and how to use them to your advantage. This level of accountability and mentorship is truly the only way to get an in-depth analysis of your leadership performance AND build out a customized plan to help you improve it.
